Farid Wassef and his family moved from Egypt to Canada in 1968 to pursue peace, prosperity and the freedom to celebrate their Christian faith. He is a very proud and grateful Canadian who has lived and worked in the riding of Markham-Stouffville for 40 years.

Farid Wassef has been a pharmacist for nearly 30 years serving the community of Stouffville. His parents owned and operated the family pharmacy on Main Street in Stouffville from 1974 to 2006. He has been a strong advocate for patient health and wellness through the integration of lifestyle changes, nutrition, and the safe and effective use of natural health products, over the counter and prescription medicines.

Farid Wassef has been invited to speak at public libraries, schools, universities, hospitals, community groups, radio, and TV; including CBC, CTV, Global, the Health Discovery Channel, and TVO concerning health and wellness. Farid is coauthor of Breaking the Age Barrier (Strategies for Optimal Health, Energy, and Longevity), (Penguin 2003).

Farid has lectured across Canada, United States, and Europe advocating for accessible, quality healthcare through patient-centered care, health promotion, evidence-based medicine, and meaningful collaboration among healthcare professionals. He is the recipient of 5 awards including the 2006 Canadian Pharmacist of the Year for his excellence in patient care and public healthcare.

Farid Wassef remains an ardent champion for accessible, quality healthcare. He believes government should be responsible and accountable with public tax money—and right now it is not. He wants to put end to wasteful government spending, which if allowed to continue will lead to further reduction of public services, job losses, higher taxes, and increased cost of living expenses that ultimately threatens our children’s future.

Farid and his wife Peggy are raising two children who attend Catholic elementary school in Stouffville. Farid and his family attend St. Mark’s church in Stouffville, where he is member of the Knights of Columbus. Farid has assisted coaching youth soccer, baseball, and hockey. He loves reading, listening to music, watching movies, playing hockey, and spending time with his family.
